Biography Andrew Tan aka Drewscape is a freelance illustrator and Eisner-nominated comic artist based in Singapore. Before being a freelance illustrator, he was in the advertising industry for 7 years and worked as an art director at JWT and DDB Singapore. He majored in Mass Communications and Business Administration at Washington State University and graduated in 1994.
Now, he illustrates for print ads, magazines, and make comic books and graphic novels. He also does storyboarding for advertising agencies. His personal style veers toward the graphic novel kind of style as he loves reading and creating comics where most of his art inspiration comes from. However, he is always exploring new styles to keep himself versatile. He believes in matching the art style to the concept and would often tailor-make a style to fit the projects set before him.
He is known for the children's book series, Sherlock Sam which chronicles the adventures of a 10-year-old Samuel Tan Cher Lock and his robot sidekick Watson. It was launched in 2012 and has sold more than 24,000 copies of the nine books in the series so far. He also published a graphic novel – Monsters, Miracles & Mayonnaise.
Featured His Children's series Sherlock Sam has been picked up by major US publisher Andrews McMeel Publishing and will be published in the US in June 2016. A third title, Sherlock Sam And The Ghostly Moans In Fort Canning, will be released in 2017.
